I’ve known Vanessa for over 10 years from my ad agency days in London. Little did I know when I was a fresh-faced 22 year old Account Exec, just out of uni, that fast forward a decade I would be photographing Vanessa’s (who was then the PA to the CEO Tim and an all round much-loved and character of the agency!) wedding day. It really was such a brilliant day and having known Vanessa for so long made it that even more special.
So much so I knew it would be pretty blimmin’ awesome from the moment I booked it – and thought it even more after we had our pre-wedding chat on Skype (and got to speak to the top man Gerry for the first time!) and then I really really really knew it when I arrived at Vanessa’s flat in the morning of the wedding and was greeted so warmly by her family. The day from then on really didn’t disappoint and it was an all round absolute belter!
Vanessa and Gerry have so much to them as people. They’re both real characters, they both have tonnes of energy and they have a really special love and connection as a couple. Their wedding day at the Ealing Park Tavern absolutely reflected them as people. It was super lively, super fun, super upbeat and super happy. I really didn’t see them stop smiling all day long. As weddings go this was so up my street for so many good reasons. There were so many happy faces on display which kind of made my job easy and it was great to see a number of old, and much loved, faces from ad agency days gone by.
The wedding itself was at the Guildhall in Windsor. It was a lovely lovely ceremony, followed by a quick drink at the Two Brewers pub by Great Windsor Park and then everyone then jumped on a classic London bus and headed down the M4 to Ealing for the reception at the wonderful Ealing Park Tavern (with a legendary champagne towner to greet everyone on arrival!). It was the perfect setting for the celebration. Beautiful decor, fantastic staff and excellent food. The day flowed so well and just got better and better as the day went on!
All in all it was such a good day to photograph and so I huge thanks to Vanessa and Gerry for having me and for all their friends and family for being so welcoming and great to work with. A special mention to Jeff Wood Visuas who filmed the day too – really look forward to seeing the end result!
I hope you enjoy this highlights set!
