I still leave every wedding on such a high and often find myself up until the early hours loading up the photos eager to look back on the day we just had (and thinking I hope my own wedding is as half as good as that day was!)
Great photos for me are photos that make me feel something. I love to bring expression and life to images. Funny faces, silly moments, laughter, joy and crying (yes I get a kick out of seeing people cry!)
I’m also obsessed with epic light. I unashamedly get overly excited about it – after all great light is at the heart of beautiful photography. You will often find me chasing sunsets and that golden time to shoot stunning photos with an ethereal feel.
I am a positive, heart on sleeve kinda guy (I may have shed a tear or two watching The Notebook - ha!)
I am an unashamed romantic and love anything soppy and heartfelt! Authenticity is really attractive to me.
Those close to me would probably describe me as energetic, friendly and someone who puts their all in to everything they do. I am a pretty enthusiastic person!!
I live and breathe weddings and photography. I’m as passionate as ever about weddings (even after going to over 300 now!) and just how awesome they are and I appreciate how lucky I am that I get to do what I do for my couples each year. I see it as a real privilege and honour.
I’m an 80’s baby and I live in Ashtead, Surrey (5 minutes from the M25 and just outside London!) with my wife Clare and my three children aged 12, 10 and 7 months – who are my number one thing in the world (and of course to take photos of too!)
My home town is Tunbridge Wells, Kent, and that area is still very close to my heart (I always love going back there for weddings!)
I am an avid football fan (Spurs for my sins), (very) amateur runner, gym bunny and first class procrastinator.
I love summer and warm balmy days. My happiest times are on holiday – away from it all, with my children, and exploring new places (which is what makes destination weddings extra special!)
Increasingly I am doing more and more coaching and teaching for fellow photographers which I absolutely love doing. You can find out more about that here -
a bit about me
I haven’t always been a wedding photographer – it’s in fact my 2nd profession. I first spent over 10 years in the advertising and marketing industry straight from university – working for big brands in London between 2004 and 2015. I realised this world though (whilst amazing in many ways) wasn’t very me and running my own business was my dream.
My corporate background put me in good stead though, and provided me with that professional rigour that runs at the heart of my business now.
I remember my first wedding very well back in August 2011! It was exhausting but amazing. It was the reaction of the couple (thanks Kelly and Mark for giving me a chance!) to their photos that really won me over. It was amazing to find something that brought such joy and happiness – that I’d enjoyed doing too. A total win win!
I can’t quite describe it but it was a really powerful moment when it all clicked (excuse the pun!)
I knew from that point this was my life’s work and it was what I was born to do. I formed Jonny MP Photography a month later. I then went after my dream to make it my profession, and poured my heart and soul into it.
I have now photographed 300 weddings and I have been fortunate enough that this has taken me all across the UK and abroad. In the last few years I have been lucky enough to cover weddings in Mexico, New York, Ibiza, Germany, Tuscany, Slovenia, Santorini, Crete, France and Ireland!
I still have to pinch myself because it really is the most awesome job in the world and I feel very fortunate to do what I do.

In 2020 I won 'Best Wedding Photographer for South East England' at the highly respected Wedding Industry Awards 2021. This is one of the toughest awards to win as it's based entirely on feedback from my actual wedding couples and a panel of highly respected wedding photographers. This was a great achievement for me and something I'm very proud of!
"I have two children aged 10 and 7, who are my absolute super stars and who of course are my favourite subjects to photograph!"
