I’m Jonny – a full time Surrey wedding and family photographer, based near Epsom, Surrey. If you don’t know where that is – it’s just outside South-West London right near the M25!

Apparently I look about 18 (and have the energy and enthusiasm of a teenager) but actually I’m an ’82 baby.

I think a good way to describe me is a wise, experienced head, with the face of a 20-something! You get the best of both worlds!

I have two children aged 10 and 7, who are my absolute super stars and who of course are my favourite subjects to photograph.

I got engaged myself in August 2019 to the wonderful Clare so I know exactly how you’re feeling right now planning your wedding and the excitement (and somewhat daunting task) of choosing all your suppliers. There is so much to do right!?!

I shoot weddings all across the UK (and sometimes Europe and beyond!) and consider myself to have the best job in the world. I do what I do first and foremost because I genuinely enjoy it and love all things weddings (I’ve shot 300 now over the last 8 years!)

Above all I am a people person and it’s that personal approach that is at the heart of what I do!  I love to get to know my couples on a personal level and many are now friends of mine.

I’m definitely best suited to down-to-earth, genuine, lovely people who don’t really like having their photo taken and who are more interested in all the moments that make up a wedding, than lots of posed photos!

I haven’t always been a wedding photographer – it’s in fact my 2nd profession. I first spent 10 years in the advertising and marketing industry – working for big brands in central London between 2004 and 2015. I realised this world though (whilst amazing in many ways) wasn’t very me and running my own business was my dream.

My corporate background has put me in good stead and provided me that professional rigour that runs at the heart of my business now.

I remember my first wedding very well back in August 2011! It was exhausting but amazing. It was the reaction of the couple  (Kelly and Mark!) though to their photos that what really won me over! It was amazing to find something that brought such joy and happiness – that I’d enjoyed doing too. A total win win!

I can’t quite describe it but it was a really powerful moment when it all clicked (excuse the pun!

I knew from that point this was my life’s work and it was what I was born to do. I formed Jonny MP Photography a month later. I then went after my dream to make it my profession, and poured my heart and soul into it.

I have now photographed 300 weddings and I have been fortunate enough this has taken me all across the UK and abroad. In the last few years I have been lucky enough to cover weddings in Mexico, New York, Ibiza, Germany, Tuscany, Slovenia, Santorini, Crete, France and Ireland!

I still have to pinch myself because it really is the most awesome job in the world and I feel very fortunate to do what I do.

This is me at a wedding! It’s this personal touch that I think makes me a bit different.

I am super proud to have been shortlisted for the leading wedding photography awards four times – made particularly special because it’s decided entirely on the feedback, and scoring, from my actual clients. Read more about the awards here.

Ultimately I care a lot about people and doing a great job for them. It’s what drives me. I place great value on everyone I work with and looking back now I am really pleased so many of past ‘clients’ are now friends of mine. You can read more testimonials here.

I get excited by great light (I am a sucker for a sunset), emotion, love, laughs, unique locations, dramatic landscapes, and the opportunity to do awesome creative work. I love it when clients are really passionate about working with me and get excited about what I can produce for them.

Most of all though I love couples who are just genuine people, who have a lot of love for each other and their family and friends!
