In the wedding photography world there is no greater honour than another wedding photographer asking you to shoot their wedding! It’s also quite scary! But the honour, and excitement, definitely outweighs the fear and it was with a huge wave of excitement I went into Katie (of Katie Drouet Photography) and Jack’s wedding a couple of weeks back in Suffolk at the East Anglian Train Museum at Chappel & Wakes Colne train museum.
I first met Katie back in the summer of 2015 at a wedding photographer’s gathering (we like to meet up sometimes and have a break from our editing screens!). I got to meet her man of many years Jack for some photos too and we had a great time! We stayed in touch over the summer and one day I saw on Facebook (the one and only place to know what the world is up to!) Jack had done some fine work and proposed to the lovely Katie! When she then asked me if I’d shoot the wedding I was blown away and so so chuffed. Katie and Jack are such amazing, super nice people, and so I knew their wedding was going to be awesome. I must say it didn’t disappoint at all – I absolutely loved it! I was so excited for the wedding and probably text Katie every day in the lead up to it such was the excitement!!
Katie got ready and her place in the picturesque Suffolk town of Sudbury with her band of lovely ladies! Katie’s parents were in attendance too and it was an all round fantastic morning. Katie couldn’t have been any more welcoming to me and so easy going – it was a dream!
We then headed to the Chappel & Wakes train museum just across the border into good old Essex for the ceremony and ensuing reception. Katie had done such a fantastic job with her details! The room looked amazing and so many cute things dotted around. She had enlisted the help of wedding superstar Caroline Gould to run the day and she and her team did a brilliant job.
Jack was looking very cool in his tweed suit and the look on his face as Katie walked down the aisle was really wonderful! The ceremony was beautifully led by Bridget Garrett. As a celebrant she oversaw what was a really personal, special exchange of vows and rings between Katie and Jack and with the Suffolk Soul Singers providing some great live music the whole ceremony was perfect.
The sun shone and we had an ideal spring day (minus a bit of wind!) as the guests enjoyed drinks and train rides on the miniature railway! The wedding breakfast had an afternoon tea theme (well done Jam Tartz catering on a fine job and thank you for my pre-London marathon pasta dinner!) and there were train carriages for everyone to sit in if they wished. The speeches were fantastic (I love love speech time!) and the evening party were awesome. I was gutted to leave when I did as it was so good!
Katie and Jack were an absolute joy to shoot. These guys are so so nice and just made me feel so part of their day. A huge huge congrats to Mr and Mrs Herbert!! I love you both loads!
