Last weekend I had the absolute privilege to head to the Greek island of Santorini to capture Sophie & Shawn’s wedding at Le Ciel so I was super excited to share some of my Santorini wedding photos. It’s pretty hard to sum up what a brilliant few days it was and how spectacular a location Santorini is for photos. I would honestly say it’s probably the most idyllic spot I’ve ever shot at! I would happily be a Santorini wedding photographer all of the year!
Sophie & Shawn live in the UK, but with Sophie’s father being Greek it was an obvious choice to decide to marry out in Santorini. I met Sophie a couple of years back as she’s also in the wedding industry as a make-up artist extraordinaire (check her out if you’re getting married and looking for someone!)!
They got ready at the Boathouse – located in Kamari, on the east coast of the island. Sophie had an awesome entourage of bridesmaids and her little girl Summer was the cutest little thing in her dress! Spirits were high as everyone then set off for the west cost of Santorini to Le Ceil – about 5 minutes from the stunning town of Imerovigli (check it out if you want to visit Santorini for your holiday!).
The ceremony (as you’ll see below in my favourite Santorini wedding photos) was outside, with the most amazing backdrop. It was a special moment to see Shawn’s face as he saw his two little ones come down the aisle (10 out of 10 to Stef and Summer for such a brilliant entrance!). Then he got to see his stunning bride Sophie who looked so good in her custom made dress by Rae Sims, as she walked down to the amazing voice of her friend Amy Langmead (who sung John’s Lennon’s “All of Me’). The ceremony was warm and full of smiles and was followed by drinks on the terrace as the afternoon sun baked down.
The guests enjoyed a delicious meal, then some awesome speeches from Shawn’s Dad (and best man), Susi, Sophie’s Dad and the main man himself Shawn – with lots of laughs and tears as a result. The evening kicked off with some local Greek dancers leading the way before plenty of epic dancefloor action!
We didn’t quite get a classic sunset but we still got outside at 8pm for what turned out to be some pretty epic portraits of Sophie & Shawn! These guys were total pros and I loved working with them.
It was an absolute joy to go to Santorini for this wedding – I hope you like these Santorini wedding photos. Thank you again to Sophie and Shawn for asking me – such an honour! Wishing you guys many years of happiness!
Finally a big shout out to Liron Erel who filmed alongside me and Michael at Weddings in Santorini.
